Tata Nexon achieves landmark 50,000 sales figure milestone in India
  • The electric variant accounts for 15% of the total sales of Tata Nexon SUV
  • Nexon EV owners cover impressive 6.3 million kilometers monthly

In a milestone achievement, Nexon by Tata Motors, India's first electric passenger vehicle, has reportedly surpassed 50,000 unit sales since its launch in 2020.

Vivek Srivatsa, the Head of Sales, Marketing, and Service Strategy at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, expressed his gratitude towards the early adopters who believed in the Nexon EV's potential. He emphasized that the achievement of 50,000 customers within just three years exemplifies India's acceptance of electric vehicles as the preferred mode of transportation in the present era.

For the unfamiliar, the Nexon EV offers a range of features including leatherette ventilated seats, a wireless charger, an electric sunroof, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), multiple drive modes, and various regenerative braking options. Safety features include an electronic parking brake with auto hold, dual airbags, ESP with iVBAC, and all-disc brakes.

As per the reports, the owners of the Nexon EV have been using it for long journeys, stretching up to 1500 km. Mostly, Nexon EV owners travel approximately 6.3 million kilometers per month for outstation and intercity trips ranging from 100 km to 400 km. This increased usage can be attributed to the rapidly expanding charging infrastructure of India, which has witnessed a remarkable growth of more than 1,500% over FY21-FY23.

Gauging the success of the variant, Tata Motors introduced the enhanced Nexon EV MAX XZ+ Lux recently, which will cost more than INR 18 Lakhs. The top-of-the-line MAX variant features a 26 cm touchscreen infotainment system developed by Harman, offering a high-resolution HD display, WiFi-enabled Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a high-definition rear-view camera, premium audio performance, voice assistant supporting six languages, and more than 180 voice commands in Hindi, Bengali, English, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi.
