HFI adds two specialty mills to expand vertical integration 
Healthy Food Ingredients LLC, a group of specialty ingredient companies offering organic, gluten-free ingredients to regional and international clients in food service industries, has reportedly added two specialty mills, expanding vertical integration within its Watertown, South Dakota, and Valley City, North Dakota facilities.



Sources cite that the company has taken this decision in response to increasing industry demand for specialty, safe, milled ingredients backed by supply assurance. The Valley City mill has enabled the company to process in-house a complete range of ancient grains and seeds, gluten-free pulses into custom-milled customer-ready flours.



All products are shipped to numerous industry channels consisting of manufactures or packed for private label retail in the company’s facility. The addition of the new mill in the Watertown facility provides wide-ranging cereal grain ingredient offerings including finely milled, whole, and blended.  The company’s Watertown facility currently processes several clean label cereal grains including all types of rye, barley, wheat, and sorghum.



Speaking on which, Jay Johnson, Chief Operating Officer at HFI said that with allergen-free mill addition in Valley City, the company is meeting the needs of customers including micro-reduction processing under IntegriPure® brand.  The mill gives complete vertical integration under the HFI portfolio, he stated while adding that the company manages every step, starting from its sustainable supply chain, to offer food safety assurance with traceability.



He further added that the company is pleased to develop a more diverse offering of cereal grain ingredient options to cope up with the increasing demand from manufacturers with its improved milling opportunities.
