California-based software company, Tracker Corp. has announced a new product on its I-9 Platform, dubbed Virtual I-9 Pro, that provides real-time phone and/or video support by I-9 experts at a low flat fee, effectively enabling new hire to easily complete the Section 2 requirement in minutes.
Reportedly, the new product launch follows the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) announcement of offering flexibility over the next 60 days on the requirement of physical presence of a new hire to complete Section 2 of the I-9 form.
In line with CDC recommendations for social distancing, DHS later authorized virtual procedures, which unfortunately was confusing for employers, forcing them to rely on remote hire features offered by electronic I-9 systems like Tracker Corp’s Tracker I-9 Complete. However, to solve issues faced by employers, Tracker Corp recently launched Virtual I-9 Pro.
As per new rules, Identity and Employment Authorization documents are allowed to be inspected using video link, email or fax. Despite this, the verification process is required to be redone after normal operations are resumed.
Julie Pearl, Chair and Co-Founder, Tracker Corp, said that the DHS claims on later evaluating on a ‘case by case’ basis, but currently have no guidance on it.
Given to this, employers are increasingly inclining towards reliable technology with remote features. Using a mobile device, users can get a secure link to fill in information required in Section 2. The information will be forwarded to employer’s Tracker I-9 system and the compliance is handled within minutes.
Despite the system offering instant error-correction feature, many new hires and employers demand assurances that someone with I-9 experience must monitor the process. However, in case an employer fails to have that capability, Tracker’s I-9 Virtual Pro will meet these demands.
In the current global scenario, companies like Walmart, Amazon and other grocery chains have announced new plans for massive hiring. Companies like these need to be capable of efficiently onboarding thousands of new employees, without concerning about failing I-9 compliance.
