Serent Capital announces closure of $1.1Bn Serent Capital Fund V

Growth-focused PE firm Serent Capital has reportedly announced the closure of the Serent Capital Fund V, its fifth and largest-ever fund, at USD 1.1 billion.

The oversubscribed fund, which closed in under 100 days, has resulted in Serent managing assets of more than $5 billion across its funds. Serent Capital Partner Kevin Frick has stated that the firm is honored and humbled by the support given by its existing investors and has also expressed delight at welcoming a new set of investors. According to Frick, this support is indicative of the successful strategy implemented by the firm, its value-driven operations, and the efforts of the CEOs and founders with whom it collaborates.

The fund’s strategy is the same as that of previous funds. Bootstrapped, found-led B2B software businesses will continue to be the main focus of Serent, given the company’s resources and expertise in the sector.

Serent Capital Partner Prital Kadakia also added that these partnerships with founders and the delivery of strategic operational resources to help them meet their growth goals have been a core focus of Serent since its inception. Kadakia added that the firm is looking forward to creating value in their companies and leveraging Fund V to evolve and expand their growth resources.

Serent has established a Growth Team in-house, which is geared towards working hand in hand with founders and their businesses for value-addition through the identification and execution of strategic activities in various areas like payments integration, product launches, innovation, etc.

Serent Capital’s investments vary from $20-$200 million and are offered to B2B software firms with the optimum product-market fit, EBITDA margins from 0-50%, annual growth between 20-100%, and annual recurring revenues of $10 million - $50 million.

The company finalized over 38 transactions in 2021, including 14 platform and 17 add-on investments as well as 7 realizations. Serent has invested in more than 60 businesses since its start in 2008 and has gained the title of "Founder Friendly Private Equity Firm" from Inc. magazine for three consecutive years, owing to its purpose-driven collaborative approach.
