PUBG parent Krafton in search of investment strategy analyst in India

PUBG Mobile’s parent organization, Krafton Inc., is reportedly searching for a new investment strategy analyst in India, as per a new job posting on LinkedIn. While the posting came out on the platform on 18th March 2021 at around midnight, Krafton does not appear to be receiving applications for it any longer.

For the record, PUBG Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Krafton and owns the intellectual property rights to the game, had taken away IP rights from the Chinese Tencent Games immediately after it was banned by the Indian government in October 2020. Since then, the company has been in search of ways for recommencing operations in India.

Back in November 2020, the company had stated that it will be setting up an Indian subsidiary for the enhancement of communications and services with players. In addition, the company had also added that it was going to set up a local office and recruit more than 100 employees in India.

It was around the same time that a job advertisement for Corporate Development Division Manager had also appeared on LinkedIn.

PUBG Corporation had further announced that it would be designing a new game for India for circumventing the ban. Taking the Chinese Tencent Games out of the equation, the new game dubbed PUBG Mobile India would be operated by PUBG Corporation, added the company.

Considering the current job posting, the investment strategy analyst will aid the organization in analyzing investment as well as acquisition and merger opportunities in India.

Krafton had earlier stated that company intends to invest a sum of $100 million for the cultivation of esports, entertainment, local video game, and IT industries in the country. Additionally, the company also aims to host esports tournaments in India.

It is to be noted that, in November 2020, Krafton had inked an agreement with Microsoft, declaring that its games will be thereafter hosted on the Azure cloud platform.
